Tourism film festival is developing and existing as one of the marketing structures.
The first festival took place in Italy, 1962. Since then festivals have been presented on regular bases in Karlovy Vary, Berlin, Barcelos, Split, Plock, Vienna, Lech, Los Angeles, New York and now also in Riga. Tourism film festival is coordinated in Vienna by CIFFT (International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals).

In 2008, for the first time, tourism film festival took place in Riga during the International tourism fair “Balttour-2008”.

In 2009 with tourism film festival “Tourfilm-Riga 2009“, taking place in cinema “Riga”, was opened tourism season in Riga.  For assessment were posted 47 short films from 17 countries (Latvia, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Azerbaijan, Hungary, France, Malta, Russia, Moldova, Montenegro, Italy, Serbia, and USA).

Tourism Film Festival „Tourfilm – Riga 2010” will take a place in Riga by judging and demonstrating tourism films presenting tourism products or specific cities, regions, states as a tourism destinations. Nominations are as follows: cultural tourism, eco-tourism, religious tourism and adventure tourism.
Films will be judged by professional jury (lead by producer A.Cilinska and critic G.Frolova).

Awards will be given in each of nomination and one will be Grand Prix.
Demonstration of the best films and award ceremony will take a place on 24th of April at cinema “Riga”.

Festival is organized by Riga Tourism Coordination and Information Centre (Director Mrs. Sandra Inkena, Project Managers: Mrs. Anitra Gerica and Mrs. Rudite Leikuma).
DVD films must be submitted in Riga Tourism Coordination and Information Centre (Address: 6 Ratslaukums, Riga, LV-1050, Latvia) till 20th of March, 2010.
